3 Top Tips To Be Camera Ready For Your Boudoir Photoshoot

It’s no secret that a photoshoot can be fun and intimidating! Being prepared and feeling camera-ready can help you walk in to your shoot with confidence. These are my top tips for all my clients who’ve booked a boudoir photoshoot!

Megan Harper of Atlanta Beauty and Skincare

  1. Drink a Lot of Water

Have a number in your head? You will likely need to drink even more than that! Don’t overdo it, and make yourself sick, of course. I’m talking about that good rule of 8(ish) glasses a day. Start this at least a week before your boudoir session. You want to be hydrated so you’re feeling your best able to streeeeetch into the poses with ease. Keep a water bottle with you all day to help you remember to sip, sip, sip. This also helps with making sure your skin is looking it’s best. Speaking of skin…

  2. Exfoliate and Moisturize

I don’t recommend a super harsh scrub the day before your boudoir session but I can tell a difference when my client makes exfoliating a priority in the weeks and days leading up to their session. Sugar scrubs in the shower for your body and a gentle exfoliating face wash can go a long way! If you’re exfoliating, you’ll also need to moisturize. Moisturized skin looks best on camera for a glowy, supple look. An exfoliated and moisturized face is the perfect canvas for your makeup artist!

If you really want to treat yourself, go for a hydrating facial! They are life changing and so luxurious! What better excuse to treat yourself than getting prepped for a big photoshoot! My favorite places for facials are Bella Medspa, Practically Perfect Day Spa, Atlanta Beauty and Skincare!

  3. Touch Up Your Hair

The week of your boudoir or branding photoshoot is the best time to get a hair touch up. Key words: Touch up. Don’t go ham and completely change up your look if that’s not your style. You want to look like yourself! If you get your hair colored, get a refresh. Your hair will be shiny and vibrant. Go for a trim, not a drastic cut. I’m all for chopping your hair off but not right before a photoshoot. More often than not, you’ll regret making such a big change before your big day. Keep your length for now and go for shorter after your session!

Also, always get a blowout. Trust me. You’ll feel like a million bucks.

My personal salon is The Hair Bar Woodstock. I can’t sing their praises enough!

When I have clients book in with me for a boudoir photoshoot, they get an extensive list on how to prepare but these 3 tips are probably the most important! If you’re trying to learn how to feel ready for a boudoir photoshoot but you’re feeling lost, reach out to me on social media or your chosen photographer for more information.

3 Tips On What To Wear To A Boudoir Session And Where To Shop For Boudoir Lingerie In Atlanta

When you book a boudoir session at Elizabeth Roses Photography, you’ll get an in depth prep guide to help you feel a little more ready and a little less nervous!

Figuring out what to wear for any photoshoot can be daunting but planning for a boudoir session can be downright overwhelming! It’s easy to spend hours and hours browsing the hundreds of lingerie websites. In this post, I will give a you a few tips on how to choose what you want to wear to your boudoir photoshoot and some great places to shop for your outfits.

Tip #1

Write out your vision. Make a list of keywords that come to mind when thinking about what you want your boudoir session to look like. Some good keywords can be:

  • pretty

  • flirty

  • natural

  • flowy

  • gothic

  • bridal

  • creative

  • sexy

  • soft

  • modest

  • dominatrix

  • high fashion

  • trendy

  • glamorous

  • colorful

  • elegant

This list could go on for miles! write down at least 3 keywords that you are drawn to. Start searching websites using those keywords so you aren’t having to swim through thousands of looks that don’t fit your style.

Tip #2

Go for variety. At my studio, my clients wear 3-5 outfits during their boudoir session. I ask them to bring outfits that will give them some variety instead of 5 black bodysuits that basically look identical. If you need help thinking of ways to change it up, here’s an easy list to get those creative juices flowing:

Pick #1 by going for the easy one, like a simple bra and panty set that fits nicely. Pick #2 by going for something comfy and casual, like an oversized cardigan and knee high socks. Pick #3 by thinking of something super personal, like the teddy you wore on your wedding night or your favorite apron(trust me, it’s cute). Pick #4 by going for the color that looks best on you. Pick #5 by going outside of your comfort zone and showing some skin!

Tip #3

Bring more than you think you’ll need. Bring it all. The lingerie you haven’t worn in years, the new outfits you’ve treated yourself to, and multiple accessories. Bring that fluffy faux fur coat and that jersey from your favorite sports team. Bring that gaudy necklace. Bring the fishnets and the fitted suit. Keep it simple or go all out. You know you more than anyone else. Your boudoir session should scream “THIS IS ME AND I AM HERE". Your photographer will go through the options with you and you’ll be able to choose what will make you shine!
